5 tips of how to get Audrey Hepburn’s style ft. Halcyon hours
Today on Petite Fashion Monster I will share this awesome collaboration with my fellow blogger and friend Iván from Halcyon Hours. He invited me to collaborate with him and share our love and respect for Audrey Hepburn. As you know, I love Audrey Hepburn with all my heart. She is my role model and number one fashion icon.

Me invitó a colaborar con él para compartir nuestro amor y respeto a Audrey Hepburn. Como deben de saber, yo la amo con todo mi corazón. Ella es mi modelo a seguir y mi ícono de moda número uno.
Here’s the first part of the Audrey Hepburn Collaboration. The second part you can read it on his blog very soon. Now I will teach you on how to get the perfect Audrey Hepburn look. Not even Fashion police could give you the “Worst Dress” award if you follow these tips. Here we go:
Esta es la primera parte de su colaboración (la segunda parte pueden verla próximamente en su blog), donde mencionaré cinco recomendaciones para lograr un look perfecto a lo Audrey sin morir en el intento. Estamos seguros, tanto Ivan como yo, que con estos tips ni Fashion Police les pondrían pero alguno. Ahora sí, aquí están:
Not only do I love her style, but also her acting and kindness. I started loving her when I watched ‘Roman Holiday’ for the first time, it was my very first movie. I was captivated by princess Ana, and the romance between her and the handsome Gregory Peck. After this, I did a research on her, her life, her ideology, and her style. I also started colecting her movies.
Audrey’s style is famous for being elegant, minimalist and very feminine. It’s actually very easy to achieve, but the key to be an actual Audrey is to always be humble and good, and to smile all the time. She thought women who smiled were the prettiest of all. If you want to get a very Audrey outfit, it’s very simple:
- Simplicity: Audrey’s style is very classic and minimalist. Less is more. Her clothes were very simple: A stripped shirt, a pair of flats, a white shirt or turtleneck sweaters. She used to wear basics. Basics are always going to get you out of struggles and make you look chic.
- Shoes: Audrey was tall, so she was always wearing low-heel shoes, mostly kitten heels. Actually, these kind of heels are my favorite, because they’re short and easy to walk in. You’re going to be on a good mood all day long with one of these. She was also a love of flats, because she was a ballerina. So pick up a pair of pretty and feminine flats to complete your Audrey look.
- The little black dress: It’s her most iconic piece. If you’re a lover of fashion a movies, at some point in your life you must have seen Audrey wearing her Givenchy dress in front of Tiffany’s store window. It’s a very known image in cinema. P.S.: Add a pair of black glasses and a pearl necklace and you’ll be Holly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
- Accessories: A scarf or a bandana. She used them on the neck or the head in summer. There’s many tutorials on how to achieve a million looks with a scarf. For the night, add a pair of gloves and you’ll feel very elegant and very Audrey.
- Trench coat: To make the most out of autumn and winter, get a trench coat. It never goes out of style and surely Audrey would approve of it.
The most important tip to get her style is to be yourself. Yes, we are giving you tips to look like her, but Audrey was a true believer of having your own style and be faithful to it. You can be yourself but can also incorporate classical pieces of Audrey Hepburn. At the end of the day, her basics are things we use daily. You just have to know how to match them to achieve that elegance and simplicity she had.
Soy una gran amante de Audrey Hepburn. No sólo hablo de su estilo tan elegante, también de su actuación y de la persona tan buena y noble que era. Mi amor por ella empezó cuando vi por primera vez ‘Roman Holiday’. Fue mi primera película. Me cautivó como la princesa Ana, y el romance entre ella y el guapo Gregory Peck. Después de ahí investigué más sobre ella, de su vida, su ideología y estilo de ropa. Por supuesto, también a coleccionar sus películas.
El estilo de Audrey es famoso por ser elegante, minimalista y muy femenino. De hecho, es muy fácil conseguirlo, pero la clave para ser totalemente una Audrey es siempre ser humilde y buena persona, además de sonreír. Ella creía que las mujeres más hermosas eran las que sonreían. Si quieres lograr un outfit muy a la Audrey, es muy sencillo.
- Simplicidad:
El estilo de Audrey es muy clásico y minimalista. Menos es más. Su ropa era muy simple: una camisa de rayas, un par de flats, una camisa blanca o suéteres de cuello de tortuga. Simplemente lo que ella usaba era básicos. Los básicos siempre te van a ayudar en apuros y lucir siempre chic.
- Calzado:
Como Audrey era alta (1.73 aprox.), siempre usaba tacón bajo. Especialmente los kitten heels. De hecho, ese tipo de tacón es mi favorito porque son cortos y son cómodos para caminar. Vas a andar a gusto todo el día con este tipo de tacón. También era amante de los flats, porque fue bailarina. Así que consigue un par de flats bonitos y femeninos para tener tu Look Audrey.
- El little black dress o el vestido negro:
Es su pieza más icónica. Si eres amante de la moda y el cine, en un punto de tu vida debiste haber visto la imagen de Audrey Hepburn con su vestido negro de Givenchy en frente del aparador de Tiffany en Nueva York. Es una imagen muy clásica en el cine. P.D.: Agrega unos lentes negros, y un collar de perlas, y serás Holly de Breakfast at Tiffanys.
- Accesorios:
Un pañuelo o bufanda. Ella las usaba en el cuello o en la cabeza en tiempo de verano. Hay muchos tutoriales sobre cómo lograr un millón de estilos con la bufanda. Para la noche, añade a tu look un par de guantes y te sentirás súper elegante y Audrey.
- Trench coat:
Aprovechando el otoño y el invierno, invierte en una trench coat. Es una pieza que nunca pasa de moda, y seguramente Audrey te daría su aprobación.
El tip más importante para lograr su estilo, y no morir en el intento, es ser tú mismo. Cierto, te estamos dando tips para que logres su estilo, pero Audrey creía que lo más importante era ser fiel al estilo de cada uno. Puedes seguir siendo tú mismo pero agregando piezas clásicas de Audrey que al final del día son básicos que uno usa a diario. Es solamente lograr combinarlas y lograr esa simplicidad y elegancia tan característica de ella.
